Stoopid Cats

I don't get it.

When there are two full, clean bowls of water on the floor, what possesses a cat to jump on a counter she's not supposed to be on and shove her head into a glass to try to access the quarter inch of water on the bottom?

And even when her head is obviously far too big, to keep shoving and pushing until the glass falls off the counter and shatters?

And most importantly, when this happens and she a) is terrified by the loud noise and commotion AND knows to run from me, and b) has lost her toy/beverage...

Why do it again?

Stoopid cats.

LOL, I don't know. Same reason our cat ignores the fresh bowl of water but stalks the sinks hoping someone will turn the faucet on?

I don't get it either.
Our cat ignores his dish to drink the dog's water. He also will bat at any cup, regardless of what might be inside. He doesn't even care if you're sitting right there. And then when he does managed to knock the cup over, most of the time he just walks away from it. Unless there was milk inside.
Cats are weird.
LOL

Maybe I'm just missing it. Both of what you guys describe is playing/turning the cups into toys. The few times I've witnessed it, it's just stuffing the head into the glass, reaching for the water. But maybe it's more than that. Maybe they get points depending on how far they get. :)

Awwwwwww. It's the curiosity thing, I guess. Our cat loves to stick her head in water glasses.

So it's not just the idiocy/maliciousness of mine? :)
