Taking a Breath...Again

I'm sure this blog has been abandoned by readers, since I've been going for longer and longer stretches between posts. Things have eased back a little again, though, yay!

My line edits for Fight or Flight are done, turned in, and accepted.

Soccer is over, so no more practices and games taking up five days a week.

The fall play is this week, so paint crew is over, so no more daily pickups at school.

Freelance work has evened out, mostly. *knock wood so it doesn't dump on me again!* I like it spread out, of course.

I'm very behind on blog reading. I'm doing NaNoWriMo, and my days are still busy, if not flooded and packed and everything, so I'm not sure when I'll find the six hours to catch up on everyone's doings. I feel very out of touch and don't like it. And I can't just read, like, this week's posts. I need to read EVERYTHING or I might miss some important thread. :)

I have to make this week's football picks today, as Thursday night games begin tomorrow. We do a pool my cousin runs, but it's huge and we never win. So I set up a family pool. It's been fun. I like seeing my father and father-in-law talking trash at each other. :) But I gotta tell ya, I suck this year. I mean, it's a weird year. I almost did a post all about football last week, but decided to spare you. But the phrase "any given Sunday" has never had so much meaning. All the teams suck and anyone can win. So when I consider my picks and choose based on what I know of the teams, I win 6 games (or, one week, 3). When I pick all home teams, or alphabetically, I win 10. Yeah. Ridiculous.

I got to go on a date Saturday night. The Husband and I went to see Red, which had been highly recommended by Number One. It was great. Very funny, kind of brutal. Star-studded, and not just with "stars" (like Bruce Willis, who is the same in every movie), but "actors" (like Helen Mirren, who is so awesome when she kicks ass!). It's worth the price of admission just for the shot of Bruce getting out of the car. You'll know what I mean when you see it. :)

After the movie we stopped at Comix Connection. I love them there. Joe called us to let us know we had some things in the box, because we'd essentially closed it except for a couple of things that didn't come out every month. The Husband's name is the only one on the box, but Joe remembered my name, even though he hasn't seen me since, like, July. I got the new Serenity hardcover (Shepherd Book's story!!!!) and some Buffy comics, and added the new Spike comic because it was funny, and enabled The Husband's addiction by adding a couple new series to the box. Very satisfying.

So that's about it. Not very exciting. I probably should have stayed away, huh? Sorry if I bored you. :)

Your life is like being on a non-stop treadmill. Glad you had a chance for a date. I have one this Friday and I have to say I deserve it like I'm sure you did.
