Premiere Week!

One of my favorite reasons to love fall is here: The main premiere week for primetime television. Unfortunately, I'm too busy to watch anything! :(

Okay, not true. Not anything. Just not most of it. Still, I manage to have a lot to say about TV (raise your hand if you're surprised. LOL)

Thoughts on Summer Shows

I think Haven has edged out Covert Affairs for Favorite New Show of the Summer. CA was great, I have no complaints. I love Joan and Arthur, and I kind of like how Jay's antagonist role has gone in a different direction. The interplay of relationships has been fun and complex. And I still love Auggie to death.

But Haven has definitely grown on me, and I have to admit, it's mainly the "romance." I'll get back to that. The evolution of the Troubles and their role in Haven's society has been very intriguing. The element of non-intent that muddies the morality and justice of everything is unique. I find myself just as eager for each new episode as I was for CA.

But the Nathan/Audrey thing...mm mm mm. I put "romance" in quotes above because it hasn't even hinted at becoming that yet. But Nathan being able to feel Audrey's touch is a game changer. First, it finally makes me able to accept the whole dichotomy of his inability to feel anything and his complete lack of clumsiness. :) Second, the actor totally sells it. The look on his face when Audrey kissed his cheek? How he makes up excuses to touch her, and his reaction when he does? It gives me shivers. I was afraid they'd just dribble it in every few episodes, but it's been a heavy subplot in the last two, so I'm really happy about that.

I am, however, unhappy that they killed off the doctor and totally suspicious of her daughter. I agree with my husband that she was the shapeshifter's wife (and also a shapeshifter) and took the daughter's existence. But they might let that lie for a while, if we're right. I'm not sure how many episodes are left for the season, but it won't be enough for me. :)

Shows that Premiered that I Actually Watched:

How I Met Your Mother is a family favorite, so we watched that live Monday night. It was funny, and that bodes well for the season. Not telling us whose wedding it was, though, frustrated my daughter to no end. :)

We also watched Castle, and that was a typical Castle episode. I loved the guys' reaction to Castle not calling. They acted like jilted teens on their own behalf, not Beckett's. And I liked Beckett's hair.

New Shows I Plan to Try

The Event, because I really dig complex shows with mysterious mythologies. [DVR'd]

Hawaii 5-0, and no idea why. I never watched the original, I don't enjoy cop shows in general (the ones I like, it's despite them being cop shows). I guess it's because it's Hawaii and it's gotten good reviews, and maybe I buy into the nostalgia factor, even without having been part of it. I do like Caan and Kim, too. [DVR'd]

Undercovers, because it's JJ Abrams and spy shows are a little more exciting than cop shows. Sometimes.

No Ordinary Family, because I love superheroes and Julie Benz and again, because it's gotten good reviews. This has potential to be a family show for us, but we'll have to see how the first one goes. [DVR'd]

Nikita, because I liked the Peta Wilson one for a while, because I like Maggie Q, and because I want another CW show that isn't about teenagers. I want the network to succeed so Supernatural keeps its home. But my husband fast forwarded through a lot of the first episode, so... [DVR'd]

Running Wilde, and I don't know why this one, either, except that I kind of want to add a comedy, and I like the main actors. This is my longshot, though. [DVR'd]

Returning Shows I'm Looking Forward To

Way, way too many.

Chuck
Glee
Modern Family
The Big Bang Theory
Bones
Fringe
Human Target
The Good Guys

And, it goes without saying (because I almost forgot to say it!), the mother of them all, Supernatural.

Now I have to consolidate my time, make my use of it more efficient, so I don't have to work at night and can relax in front of the TV, like a good American should!

How about you? What are you most looking forward to?

i love Haven, too. LOVE! One of my favorite shows! Of course I like Bad Boy Duke, but love Audrey. A little triangle might be fun.

We watched 5-0 last night and really liked it.

Glee, of course. Parenthood. The Middle and Modern Family.

HIMYM, The Event and Lone Star Monday. I'll give Lone Star a couple more chances because Adrienne Palicki's in it and I love her. Enjoyed The Event.

I'm going to watch Undercovers because it's JJ. I'm going to give My Generation and $*** My Dad Says a shot. And I'm looking forward to Big Bang, Grey's and SPN!

I know you love Haven, MJ! In fact, when I started to love it, I thought of you. LOL

Glad to hear you liked 5-0 and The Event. We're recording Parenthood, but I'm not sure I want to keep watching it. Well done, but such a downer!

I don't think it's a downer, though not maybe the last thing I see before I go to bed. That said, I've not squeezed it in this week yet!

They said they were going to lighten things up this season, so maybe it won't be anymore. But even though there's plenty of humor, nothing good ever happens. Max's illness, Halley's selfishness, her cousin's betrayal, the dad's (and then mom's!) infidelity and financial crisis, Sarah can't date the guy she likes...it's unrelenting negativity! The sibling relationships make up for it, though.

True...but I really like the way Adam's marriage is portrayed. And I like that Lilah from FNL is on. And I love Lauren Graham.

I agree with all of that!
