Kyle XY (Spoilers)

I've been trying to keep this to myself, because it's nothing new. Everyone knows I love Lost, that even though the quality of the show fell off this year, I have full trust in Damon and Carlton, blah blah blah. I got pissed at Tim Kring for comparing Heroes to Lost and claimed it was better. Aside: Heroes ended the season at 35 to Lost's 20 in the ratings, and Kring created the cardinal sin of admitting they wrote the finale the way they wrote it not because it served the story, but because that's the way they wanted it.

So here's yet another executive producer, this time for Kyle XY, bashing a very popular show to try to make hers look better:

"Unlike LOST, where it seems like they’re just making it up, we actually know what the secret of KYLE XY is."

I watched the first season of Kyle XY on DVD last week. It was okay. I found it very slow much of the time. The redundant and unnecessary voiceover was annoying, and any assumption on the part of a show's makers that I am stupid makes me not want to keep watching. But it did improve over the very short (only 10 episodes) season. They had a lot of growth in certain characters (Declan is my favorite). I really liked Kyle's abilities, as little as they showcased them, and I looked forward to the second season because someone mentioned that we were supposed to see a lot more of that in season two.

The executive producer also said “the answer to Kyle’s existence actually opens a completely new direction for the show. It’s not the end of the series… it’s just the beginning.”

Coulda fooled me. In fact, the season premiere felt like a series finale. Kyle's creator was killed, Kyle went back to the place that was home, and the evil people were blown up. The "big answers" were totally predictable. Well, okay, not the extended gestation part, that was interesting, but duh, it was a bit obvious he was created. I don't see this "completely new direction" she mentioned. Sure, XX survived the blast, but in the episode that was like the one little element they throw in to imply there could have been more, if only the show had been allowed to continue.

So here's what I expect:

Kyle will continue to make lame and obvious observations about humans while he tries to "discover himself"

The Tragers continue to lavish him with love and resentment in equal amounts

XX becomes the enemy and wooooo, Kyle has someone to fight with the same abilities he has

I'll keep watching. It's a diversion, and not horrible like Painkiller Jane. And very little else is on, with Studio 60 winding up and making me mourn. It's on ABC Family, which automatically lowers expectations. But I wouldn't care one bit if it went off the air.

So it figures there's no chance of that.

This show is so much better than a lot of crap out there and I can see from your comment that you are not in full agreement which is totally okay everyone has there say but dont hate on the constant Love the Treggers give out, this world needs a little more Love not a little more hate ! Go visit your Mom and Dad and get a hug okay I am sure you need it !

Anonymous, I have no issue with the love the Tragers give out. I like that part. It's just the voiceover I feel is unnecessary (when Kyle talks about his feelings and what he's learned, which were already obvious). I don't think the audience is stupid. We get it.

My mother is dead, so I can't get a hug from her. I can go hug my kids, though. :)

I've been watching the second season and so far like it a lot.

Thanks for commenting!

I love this show!! It is very corny, and at some points actually embarassing to watch, but still. I have to say that I dont think he'll be fighting Jesse. I think it'll maybe start off that way, but then they'll unite to bring down zzyx (NO IDEA how that is spelt)(and Ive just realised that Foss [sp?] actually already did that - Is he the same guy who played Kryczek on the XFiles???) Unless she reverts to evil psycho mode, in which case you are probably right.
I stopped watching lost ages ago. (They shouldnt have resolved Charlies drug problem so much quite so soon, cos thats what I was watching for)
Im not really anonymous, I just dont have an account.

After seeing the second episode, I think you might be right about Jesse. Could go either way, since her instinct was to attack that kid at the bonfire. But I think it more likely he'll be trying to rescue her eventually.

Yeah, Tom Foss is the actor who played Kryczek. He took down Zyzzx (however it's spelled!) but there's the parent company to go after now, the one that hired Emily.

So, if you're not anonymous, do I know you? :)

Personally I have little problem with the direction of the show I enjoyed how the element of balancing to lives that was introduced this season. Kyle 's struggle to find the truth about himself and still maintain the relationships he has developed really helped to move the story along. Als o I thinks its sad when people see a family that cares for each other and consider it corny. That probably shows how dysfunctional and cynical people have become. Instead of trashing such stuff on tv we should encourage it. Also I am very interested to see what Kyle does find out in season 3. I also have the feeling Jesse will be back for an encore and once again here role in the battle between Kyle and Madacorp is going to be a toss up.

I love Kyle XY! Its much better than what you've made it out to be. Its different, and I like the fact that its obvious. It makes the unexpected things even more unexpected.

Ok so do you like Kyle XY or not? Personally I love it. I love lost too but for some reason I just lost interest in it. All the other seasons of lost I found that I couldn't wait for the next episode but this season it just didn't grab me and I actually missed a couple of episodes. Kyle XY on the other hand I have not missed a single episode of it and I will not. So if that rumor about Lost coming on Mondays at 8:00(same time as KXY) is true you can be sure that I'll be watching Kyle XY.

Its spelt Zzyzx

I like Kyle XY. It isn't even close to being the best show, though. I think it's about #15 on my Season Pass list.

I don't compare it to Lost at all. They are extremely different shows. I only mentioned Lost in my original post because the creators compared Kyle XY to Lost. But if it came down to it and I had to choose one, Lost would win without a thought.

I agree! Lost is an amazing show! Don't get me wrong, I love Kyle XY but Lost just has the ability to keep you hanging and wanting for more. Even though the context is totally crazy and impossible it just has a way of pulling me in, unlike Kyle XY. Sometimes I just can't get into Kyle XY because it's such a fantasy, but when I'm watching Lost, I can't stop even if it's all completely impossible!

I absolutely adore this show! Its my favorite show at the moment. The first season was embarassing to watch at some points but in a fun way. I love the second season, especially the last five or so episodes. I made my partner watch it with me one night when the first season box set arrived and he loved it. He keeps raving about it. Can't wait for the third season!
